The Festival du Film Merveilleux announces a landmark partnership with the Alliance Française de Buenos Aires and bringing the 2026 Competition to South American audiences for the first time.
Paris, 2026 — The Festival du Film Merveilleux is crossing the Atlantic. In a move that underscores the festival’s commitment to sharing the art of wonder beyond borders, a new partnership has been forged with the Alliance Française de Buenos Aires and every Alliance Française in Argentina that wishes to join the adventure.
Beginning with the 2026 edition, five official Competition films will travel to Argentina for dedicated screenings — bringing audiences in Buenos Aires and beyond face to face with some of the most imaginative cinema of the year, well before the wider world catches up.
The Alliance Française network, deeply rooted in Argentine cultural life, offers the ideal home for this expansion: spaces where cinema, curiosity, and community already converge. Together, the two institutions will invite Argentine audiences to experience the magic of the Merveilleux — that singular blend of wonder, fantasy, and emotion that defines the festival’s identity.
More details on participating cities, screening dates, and the 2026 Competition selection will be announced in the coming months.
