Meet Pierre Dumas
Born in Normandy on 22 August 1966,
Pierre Dumas is a self-taught composer who discovered the world of music at an early age thanks to his pianist mother. At the age of 11 he was already singing in a choir,
From the age of 17 he took up the guitar.
From the 1980s onwards, he formed a number of rock, folk and French chanson groups. He soon discovered his vocation as a composer and became involved in M.A.O.
In 2005, he met the director Christine ALLEN, who asked him to compose a musical sequence for a feature film, thus giving him a direct entry into the world of cinema. At the same time, Christine and he attended the Cannes Film Festival, which enabled him to establish contacts and friendships with numerous personalities from the world of cinema and music, in particular with the Union des Compositeurs de Musiques de Films – UCMF – of which he became a member.
Since 2005, he has produced a number of compositions for short films as well as for songs, including a collaboration with the talented singer Dana Holness in New York.

He is also a director of UNESCO’s Sound Week (since 2017, Sound Week has awarded the prize for the best sound creation in Cannes as part of the Un Certain Regard selection).
In collaboration with his sidekick Sylvain Dumontier, Pierre won the prize for best original music at the Bourges Film Festival in 2014 for the film ‘Peur aux oiseaux’ by director Jeanne Romana.
