Julia Paixão Vieira, Master of Ceremonies for the 2026 Festival du Film Merveilleux & Imaginaire

The Festival du Film Merveilleux & Imaginaire is delighted to welcome Julia Paixão Vieira as Master of Ceremonies for its 16th edition, taking place in Paris from September 16 to 18, 2026.

A Brazilian journalist and producer, Julia works between Rio de Janeiro and Paris, driven by a deep passion for culture, cinema and human stories. Her journey has taken her through a wide variety of environments, from Rio’s street Carnaval blocos to major international events, always with the same curiosity for the people and stories behind the scenes.

A graduate of PUC-Rio with a Master’s degree in Communication and Journalism, she devoted her academic research to Rio de Janeiro’s street Carnaval and its social, cultural and digital transformations. Her professional experience now spans journalism, audiovisual production, communication and cultural projects.

In Paris, Julia notably contributed to audiovisual productions around the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, before also joining the Olympic and Paralympic Games as a communication volunteer, working alongside international media and athletes.

She is also very familiar with the world of film festivals. In Brazil, she contributed to the Varilux Festival of French Cinema, creating social media content, writing scripts and conducting interviews with artists from the French delegation.

Her cultural engagement continues today with the Museu de Favela in Rio de Janeiro, where she works on communication, audiovisual storytelling, the promotion of local history and culture, as well as partnership development.

Fluent in Portuguese, French, English and Spanish, Julia naturally embodies the dialogue between cultures that lies at the heart of the Festival du Film Merveilleux & Imaginaire.

For this 16th edition, she will guide audiences, filmmakers and jury members throughout the Festival’s three evenings of competition, from the screenings to the closing ceremony.
